I think holding the remote and nunchuck in separate hands so I can lounge about in a plethora of chillaxxable poses is more comfortable than any 2-handed controller the world has ever known. You never have to swing your whole arm in any game. As others have said, the tiniest flick of a wrist will do the job. The accelerometer is paying attention to acceleration, which means it's paying attention to the direction that gravity is pulling on your remote, which means it just pays attention to rotation. This means that rotating 30 degrees is the same whether you do it from your wrist, your elbow, or your shoulder.
That said, the classic controllers do work on some games. I don't have a list on hand, but you can use them in Brawl and Mario Kart, and any game on the VC.
