the hardware shortages durin Christmas 06 and 07 created intense demand for the wii among many people that knew nothing about what truely makes great games. notice the best games on the wii aren't the systems bestselling titles. Japan has largely woken up from this phenomenon except for a few weeks there following the dq x announcement and the lack of knowledge that the latest monster hunter was also coming to psp. the rest of the world will eventually follow suit unless some of their hc games attract a following something that the system's prior hc titles failed to do. WSR is also a big test to see if the newbies will buy something they think they already have. at any rate, nintendo can't afford to do a dog and pony show at the game conventions in 09 as they did in 08 with one core title and one game meant to sell because it has the word wii in the title if they want to remain dominant as they were. if they try that again their sales could fall off to gcn levels until new Mario, Zelda, and DQ come out.
