 Actually no. If the previous makers had a start like sony, they would have gone under before breaking even. Sony could afford (just bearly) to spend 3 billion on the PS3 before is started recouping. Any of the previous makers would have had to close their doors.

 

You do know by time the PS3 started to make money per unit sold, they still had 2 billion dollars saved up remaining from the PS1 and PS2 eras. They fucked up yeah. But they didnt "just barly" Pull through the fiasco.
