If my time weren't so precious I might tackle some of your key points but as I said my time is valuable and precious. Although a pretty good synopsis of 2009, I think you give too much faith in Wii and not enough in the other platforms. If there is any year for them to catch up this would definitely be a good starting point. Many could try to argue that 2008 might have been a peak year for the Wii and validity on that could be argued very strongly.
But HD console war is simply a joke. Actually the handheld being different from home console is a joke as well but I guess not as many are laughing. So of course assuming that the 3 don't compete on the same level is quite the joke and your reasons supporting this are none the less disturbingly primitive. You actually could have made a case on this with support from actual sales because despite Wii being so dominant it isn't doing what the PS2 was doing which was canceling out sales of the other platforms. Thus you could argue Wii has created another separate niche "marke" where it has complete dominance along with a good portion of control in the other traditional "markets" but shared more heavily with the competing platforms. But instead you took a very simplistic route.
However it's kinda ironic that this thread is supposed to be about the HD console war but of course the topic and intro is all about the Wii. Guess it's a little more important than what meets the eye. Damnit I gave away too much of my precious time. Oh well I hope this helps.
