Star Ocean may end up a big flop, though it's too early to tell yet. However sales numbers and review scores for IU and TLR are pretty much as expected.

The only JRPG to flop on the 360 so far is Tales of Vesperia. All the others have sold pretty much the same as similar games sold on the PS2 in the previous generation (worldwide). And there is still a slim chance that Europe could save ToV. Tales of Symphonia sold 230K in EU, and if ToV can manage to sell the same it can no longer be considered a flop.

Anyway IU and SO4 are both made by tri-Ace who are completely independent from SquareEnix. And it should be pretty obvious to everyone that tri-Ace have become a second party developer for Microsoft this generation. Just like Insomniac is an independent second party developer for Sony. As for The Last Remnant, it was originally intended to be released for the PS3 at the same time as the 360 version. The PS3 version was put on hold in part because Team SaGa had plenty of difficulty working with the PS3 version of the UE3 graphics engine, in part because SquareEnix needed more PS3 coders to speed up development of FF13.

Ironically part of the reason for SquareEnix's less than stellar financial results in recent years, is actually their strong support for the PS3 (!). The company has wasted a ton of money on expensive PS3 development, and the result have been nothing but endless delays and technical problems.

Sony made a system this generation that is way too difficult and time consuming to develop for. Both Sony and SquareEnix are paying the price for it now. It's no wonder SE is slowly turning away from Sony and focusing more strongly on the Wii and the 360.

Fixed.
