You are projecting your own biases there.
SE is in trouble because they mismanaged FFXIII into a development blackhole that's sucking the company dry. Over three years since the 360 released, over two years since the ps3 and wii released - and they just released their first internally-developed (IU and SO4 are Tri-Ace affairs) "proper" jrpg, The Last Remnant.
Nevermind the other big IP, DQ, has been delayed to hell and back and gone through several revamps.
