You must be young or you would know Square got big with the NES and SNES then they stabbed Nintendo in the back and jumped ship to the PS1. The whole Final Fantasy on Xbox thing is ironic for this reason.
As for Mass Effect: Wow what an amazing game. But it's main story takes 4-10 hours to finish compared to 40-60 hours for your typical Final Fantasy game. Different beasts entirely.
