I think Killzone 2 is a better game, but that doesn't make it a Halo killer, because Halo cannot be killed. It is timeless. It's like calling LBP a Mario Killer, or Fable a Zelda Killer (seen both of those on VGC sadly)

I've seen a couple of people here saying that Killzone 2 would be a Halo killer, but not one person predicted over 3 million first week.

So a series to be "killed" (replaced by another series as king), there needs to be more than the challenger being excellent.  What needs to happen is the king needs to stumble.  This has happened in the past actually.  If you look at arena fighting FPS titles, you had Quake which was king.  Well, it did a mediocre job with Quake 3 Arena, and then Unreal Tournament took over.  Unreal Tourmanent was the "Quake killer" in  regards to this area.  It just did more of everything, and Unreal Tournament then became the top Arena FPS franchise.  iD basically gave up in this area, and went back to making engines, and focusing on single player.  Of course, having Romero leave didn't help matters for them.
