How can you say that about WHC... its only been released in Japan and its going to sell at least 350K there... who knows what it will do WW. Valkyria Chronicles had a significantly smaller budget than SO, no doubt. It has no fancy cut scenes and the graphics really don't push the PS3 at all (although the art direction is fantastic). It also sold fairly well for an SRPG. Remember SO has been in developement since before PS3 dev kits were available, or at least that is there excuse for why it isn't on the PS3. So SO has been in developement for longer than 3 years. |
I can easily say that about WKC because it is not going to end up with higher WW sales than Lost Odyssey, SO4, last Remnant. Thus if these games are "major flops" then so is WKC.
And I'd argue that statement about cutscenes. I havent played SO4, only VC, but from what I saw of SO4 I'd say VC has better cutscenes. Not to mention its animated clips which sure as hell costed a lot to make. Not to mention this canvas engine developed from scratch.
Star Ocean 4 on the other hand was developed with the Infinite Undiscovery's engine which was founded completely by Microsoft. The game has also been made with the help of Feel+ (Microsoft's studio) and who knows how else has Microsoft helped with its development.
I dont like to argue about which game is a bigger flop, I'd rather argue which one is a bigger success. But I find it stupid to call 360 jRPGs "flops" while neither PS3 jRPG title has done any better.
