Downloads are more convenient. Conveneience is the reason DVD overtook VHS. Blu-ray is not more convenient. If it was, the better detail would just be gravy.

So it's not a shock it's not taking off. Neither would HD-DVD, but at least they were trying for new features, while the Blu-ray camp just felt they needed to copy what HD-DVD had. Yet either way, this is not the big thing the movie industry wanted. Excusing it with "BR is not mainstream" ignores that mainstream is what they wanted.

And trying to downplay it with "VOD is not at ALL mainstream" ignores that the article was not JUST mentioning VOD. It mentioned others.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
