RE could be done in a cartoony style, as some sort of surreal nightmare (perhaps a hallucination of the protagonist suffering from a virus variant). But it would have to be done really well, and be designed around that style, not a port or remake.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
