This reminds me of the joke (I hope it's a joke, at least) where G.W. Bush makes a public statement to express his concern at learning that "half of all american population has under the average IQ"
This to say that even if _half_ of all the people who made sale predictions were over the real mark, that would be still spot on statistically (assuming symmetrical distribution etc etc).
It does not prove anything, because the other half would be _under_ the mark, and as much wrong as the first half.
You're just more sensible to some opinions than to others, as we always are. And while I doubt that really there have been hundreds of thread starting in 2005 and hyping KZ2 (the real hype is maybe 6 months old), I guess that you just remember the most fanboyish opinions instead of the vast majority of reasonable people.
By making sweeping statements and calling the sales "underwhelming" with respect to what you yourself tag as "fanboyish" expectations, aren't you just validating the worst aspect of the discussion? Break the circle.
