Could anyone reccomend some games which are similar to the Total War series

Munkeh is looking for a game that mainly has the "grand campaign parts" of Total War. Obviously that would be the Europa Universalis series.

Munkeh, try EU and come back tell me if it was any fun.
I once tried one of them but I can't remember why I didn't put much time and effort into it.
