Exactly, look at Mario. He can play baseball, soccer, basketball, RPGs even in some educational crap. But not Sonic, in fanboys mind the only thing that he always should do is running from point A to point B really fast.

 

If some of the review scores of Sonic's other endeavors matched the likes of Super Mario Strikers or Paper Mario, perhaps reviewers wouldn't complain so much.

And besides - I think you'll find that the majority of fans are as sick of Mario's sports, painting, teaching, prostituting as everyone else.
