Unless we're positive of KZ2's budget, your point is moot at best. We need figures, not guesstimations! |
I was hoping you would say :)
We'll we do have some official figures. Almost 3 years ago when the game was meant to be coming out with the console Guerilla gave an interview to Volkrant (main newspaper in Holland). On 28th November 2006 they said
"the game will cost more than the most expensive movie in the country, Black Book "

At that point that meant $21m. So in almost three years and with the amount of delays it has had being pushed back, with 120 programmers working on it we can assume those costs increased not decreased.
So the final numbers we will know when they release their company notes to the stock exchange. But until then it looks unlikely the game will have brought Sony any profit, in fact if the $60m number is true (very doubtful) then they could be making a huge loss on this one.

woah woah woah ... killzone 2 was not suppose to be a launch title. get your timeline straight.

Sorry i think you misunderstand what i meant. I meant to be coming out on the console not with the console. But if we want to get the "timeline straight" then it was meant to be released around the european launch in march 2007. After the gameplay trailer shown at e3 2005 everyone assumed that would be when it would be released. If you disagree with that then you obviously have bad memory of 2006-07. Then after it failed to appear it was confirmed the game had slipped in July to Q1 of 08. Then that turned into Q4 08. Which was then changed again in May 2008 to Q1 in 2009, and here we are. So was 1st show gameplay trailer in 05, almost 4 years ago. Obviously the game was in development long before then to be able to show that at e3 05.
So now that has been taken care of and the pettyness settled, anything else?
