I just read an article on nintendojo.com complaining about analog control and missing the control pad of the 2D generations.

An interesting point was raised within however. The portables aren't very good with controlling in a 3D space and the PSP's answer to that, the analog nub isn't the best solution to the issue. So how about a pressure sensitive D-Pad? It'd be as close to an analog stick as a portable can get while still retaining the iconic D-Pad.

Now one issue may be the fact that many people like a clicky style D-Pad and perhaps that could also be implemented on top of the analog or pressure sensitive part like the GameCube's shoulder buttons. The D-Pad would have to be a little chunkier than that of the DS Lite but not a lot more, if it was allowed to be pushed further into the system itself when controlling direction.

So yay or nay to pressure sensitive D-Pads for the next generation of portable systems?
