Many third party developers use advanced graphics and high production values as a crutch to compensate for the uninspired, outdated and often unfun gameplay mechanics of their games, and I suspect that many of them are reluctant to produce Wii games because it would demonstrate how mediocre their games really are ...

I always see these kinds of posts from nintendo fans. So exactly whats your idea of inspired, dated and fun gameplay? You do realize that there different genres of games? If you don't like a genre, move on.

Games like deBlob, World of Goo, Portal and Braid are all pretty good recent examples of developers who did something unusual for the time and made games that were more than "The same game we've made for 10 years, now with even better graphics" ... Hell, right now I would settle for third party publishers just taking a step outside of their "Generic FPS" ideology and to clone a Theif, DeusEx or Redneck Rampage game for a change...
