Reasonable, what about the fact the 360 does tend to have a 33% higher attach rate than the PS3? That certainly plays a big part in the PS3's struggle to find more sales.

Attach rate, as I look at it, shows two things:

1) the popularity of a title with a console's install base

2) the general spending power of that console's install base

360 and PS3 both have pretty small install bases (compared to say Wii or PS2 at this point in its life) and as such both should see pretty good attach rates as if a console sells really well, and covers a lot of demographics, the attach rate should drop.

The 360 however has a few advantages over the PS3 IMHO:

1) it does have a number of titles that have/will sell beyond the average PS3 (and PS2 before it) title - titles like Halo, Gears and COD on a small install base are going to skew the figures for attach rate

2) it has a one year install base lead, which means that it should see a better attach rate for most multiplatforms unless they skew particularly to an audience that is underepresented in its ownership demographic

3) the above 2 points are further magnified by the 360 advantage in US and the fact that it has (I believe) a larger presence in the most high spending group of owners (teens/younger working males) than PS3

Attach rate isn't part of getting customers, its a measure of how you're doing with regards to the attractiveness of your range of games to your owners.

To get customers PS3 needs more exclusives, a lower price and more of its most popular franchises and genres.  The challenge is the 360 already has taken a fair share of the potential install base while MS has used money/smart relationship building to fastrack exclusives and in many cases buy them.

Again, though, when I think it through I don't really get the OP.  I mean, if the PS3 was seeing the same big sales for its main titles then it would probably be outselling the 360.  We know its not, we know the difference in territory splits and genres so its a given that for the most part its titles will see less sales than 360.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
