I think PS3 was originally seen as the platform for the next installments of series such as Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy. Just like 360 was seen as the console for the next Halo.
And although PS3 fanboys on internet forums will try to make you believe otherwise - people didnt buy PS3 for Killzones, Resistances, Little Big Planet etc. They've bought it for FF, GT and MGS. Sales prove my point. It's just that 360 has already got its Halo and co, while PS3 is still waiting for its Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy.
