Well some of us do own stock in these companies. Luckily for me I bailed out of Nintendo stock a while ago. :P
People just like to feel good about their purchases and decisions in life, so they will want to back it up. Being able to flaunt something they have (or are going to have) is a great opportunity for some to help themselves feel better about their buying decisions. Same goes with putting down someone else's product that they can't buy. Making it seem bad makes them feel better about not being able to get it.
