Zelda is basically as popular as it ever has been.

Combining the Wii and GC versions, Twilight Princess is in shape to become the most popular Zelda game ever in both Europe and America. The Wii version alone is already #2 ever in Europe, and the combined numbers are closing in on Ocarina. Combined, TP is already #3 in America. The Wii version has the next 5 years to rack up sales and put combined sales ahead of Ocarina in both regions--though that should happen by the end of '08, and the rest will be gravy.

And in Japan, where TP did only okay, PH is picking up the slack. Sales have dipped pretty sharply over the last few weeks, but so have sales for most everything. The game should still cross the million mark this year, and then we'll see if it has legs enough to reach the older Zelda titles next year.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
