I dont play pokemon the card game; or the video game, since 5th grade.
Honestly tho, back in the day if you have a friend or relative that gets it the same time as you, and your both competing to raise the best pokemon and beat the other, thats where the game truly shined for me. I had gold, he had silver, and we had a blast staying up all night past 12:00 straining our eyes and level grinding till morning.
Its the competition with other players that drive the game. Much like World of Warcraft. Now that i mention it...they do have some similarities.
