I would not prefer it, no. I found it to be rather cheesy even when I was a kid. But moreso, it connects the games to series like Ultima/Might and Magic/Wizardry. Those games use it and that's who should use them. Dragon Quest not only doesn't take place in 'Britannia', but has its own setting. And by the time Dragon Quest IX comes out, if people are walking around saying 'How art Thou today?', its going to be VERY out of place.
