Well that's harsh @windbane: I actually agree with you. I like "Gears" myself. But it's not a matter of should. It's a matter of what will or what is. |
I thought Onyxmeth's comments were about right on. I will not shy away from being called a strong fan of the PS3 and PSP, and if I'm called a fanboy I don't care even if I object to the meaning placed behind it. What I don't do, however, is continually create threads and post in other threads negative remarks about the other systems. Everyone has opinions but some people on this site seem to have a mission to put down the PS3 constantly. It's really rather tiring.
As for the wonderful topic at hand: everyone I know with a 360 calls it Gears. No one can say "GeoW" and no one wants to say "Gow" (rhymes with wow) or Gow (rhymes with row) for a game. Most people use Gears because it sounds good and it's what they would say. GoW is a short way to type God of War, which is what people say. The whole point of abbreviations is to shorten the spoken language for easier use in written form. Gears is easy to type and is exactly what people say. I see no reason for anything to change.
