Kasz - Your Google argument is completely moot. Gears came out two months ago. Wait till God of War comes out and re-test the theory. Also, type in MK in google...the first that has to do with games is Mortal Kombat. In other words, what comes up in google has no bearing on the validity of Squil's original claim. Type GOW into wikipedia. The first thing you see is a 1939 novel called Grapes of Wrath. Second is GOW. The third is Gears.
Khuutra - If you want to bring the constructs of language into this, then an acronym can be used for many things at the same time. We are talking about something that is extremely subjective. In other words, you can use GOW call whichever game you want. Which brings me back to my original post:
You can go ahead and start using GOW for Gears. It's your human right. However, that will NEVER, EVER make it so.
