Gears and not God of War deserves the acronym GOW.

What a game is shortened to is NOT based on sales.  And MK is Mortal Kombat, and I don't care if you think of things.  There is no "natural progression" for the shorthand of things. 

In regards to abbreviations, just call Gears of War, Gears for short.  Why be so blasted stubborn?  The idea is to speak clearly, not confuse.  When you call Gears of War "Gears" people know what you are talking about.  For you to demand otherwise is to reek of presumptive fanboy arrogance.

Anyhow, as I see it, GoW is still God of War, and Gears is Gears of War.
