1. You can't compair a handheld console to one that is stationary.

Maybe not in total sales or in software sales but in there are valid comparisons between handheld systems and home consoles. Much like comparing Television to Movies you can't necessarily make direct comparisions but the fundimentals are important in both formats.

2. A lot of people do think the Wii is a fad (of course, not on this site).  Almost everyone that I know (in real life) that has one, is not a console/pc gamer.  They're parents or 10 year olds.

Certainly, a lot of people do think the Wii is a fad; far less than those who don't think the Wii is a fad but that isn't important. The odd thing is I have the complete opposite situation as you do, most people I know who are gamers have either bought the Wii or are planning on buying the Wii in the near future. For the most part the reason personal experience isn't very important is that most people live in a bubble of similar people with similar worldviews which means that obviously the people around you will have similar preferences as you.

3. The only time I've ever enjoyed the Wii was while drunk.  When sober, it bores me to tears.  Why is that?

Probably because when you're drunk is the only time you can be free of your insecure self and enjoy the Wii for what it is ... Much like the guy who only sleeps with other guys when you get plastered, your conscience mind prevents you from seeing your subconscience desires while sober.

4.  Why would I want to play Wii golf in my living room when I can play real golf with my friends in the warm sun?  Why would I want to play Wii bowling in my living room when I could play real bowling with my girlfriend at the bowling alley? etc, you get the idea...

Why would you play madden when you can go outside and play football? Why play Gran Turismo/Project Gothem Racing when you can race real cars? Why play Call of Duty when you can just join the army?

BECAUSE VIDEOGAMES ARE MORE FUN AND REQUIRE LESS EFFORT

5. HDTVs are becoming cheaper and cheaper.  As more get sold people will want to buy a console capable of HD gaming.  Blu Ray and HDDVDs are selling more and more, people will want to watch HD movies which the Wii also can't do.

Can you show me statistics that demonstrate a noticeable correlation between HDTV ownership and a reduction in desire to own the Wii? Last statistics I saw indicated a large correlation between HDTV ownership and Wii ownership inspite of the Wii not outputting in HD resoultions.
