Oh man, I cant believe people here. If you have a save then you can carry on. If you dont then the game will have lower enemies and less of the universe traveled simple. Nothing to do with KIA for Shepheard or not. Also if it's on PS3 then more will enjoy. But seriously be lost, you have to play the first game. But I wouldnt get your hopes up. Nothing has ever been confirmed, and the fact that the first trailer didnt state the multi thing. It doesnt look good for PS3 version. |
Agreeing with Selnor on the no PS3 multiplat, here is my reasoning behind it.
Mass Effect 2's reliance on Mass Effect 1 goes beyond if shepward was killed or not, Quoting from a Source.
"Depending on a player's choices in the first game, explained Hudson, some civilizations in Mass Effect 2 may be different for each individual, “but I think the more important changes are the personal ones where maybe halfway through the next game you'll realize – on a very intimate and personal level – that a choice you made in the first game affected somebody in the second game.”
Yes, Shepard's very actions will affect the story of the sequel. So if he died, who gives a hoot! What he did will affect the NPC's, Civilizations, and most likely everything else.
This is the reason why I believe that this game will NOT be a PS360 multiplat. There's too much reliance on the first game for them to put the sequel on the PS3 without having the first mass effect on the PS3. Mass Effect came out what, November 2007? Its feburary 2009 now. Development for a game takes years, and alot of it involves planning. Obviously this means that Mass Effect 2's development must have started in the late stages of Mass Effect 1's development. A game this size? My guess, Late 2006 maybe.
What this means is that they would have had to plan it to be a multiplatform title, a long time ago. Therefor, if it was to be a multiplatform title, they would have to release a PS3 port of mass effect within' a reasonable time-limit. However, 15 months after the initial release of mass effect. We have absolutely no word about a port, this does not look good for PS3 owners.
That being said, we are just seeing the teaser trailer now. There's a long way to go, maybe just "maybe" they'll release a PS3 port closer to the sequel's release date and make it multiplat. So they can boost mass effect 1's PS3 sales by using the sequel as a sales pitch. But honestly. I give a PS3/360 Multi-platform release of Mass Effect 2 a less than 5% chance of occuring.
Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?
