The lack of third party support. The PS2 had a year or so head start and was well established and Sony advertised PS2 a lot more than Nintendo advertised the Game Cube.
The Game Cube being a purple box and looking like a school lunch box did not help sell the Game Cube. The design and purple colour of the Game Cube was dreadful.
