I played through 1, 4 and parts of 2 and 3 and I'm pretty certain I was by myself for the majority of the time. There was a few parts like in 4 with the presidents daughter near the end but that's just a small part. What Resident Evil game is there that you are side by side with someone else for the whole game? 

Resident Evil 0. In fact, the whole "partner" thing was the main selling point of the game. And your AI partner was worthless there too...I usually just gave her (I preferred using Billy) a pistol, and did all the heavy lifting myself. It didn't hurt, but it didn't help either.
