Great piece of hardware if you consider the ratio between performance and cost.
However the system was launched to late to garner any serious momentum from PS2 and it failed miserably to find a differentation factor ( the pad was a lttle different and with the idea to ease the control with the big A button but was too little to pass noticed to many people ).
Ultimately their failed attempt to differentiate retort over them and the console was appealing only to whom likes Nintendo games ( i.e. the millions of Nintendo fan ).
Ironically some principles later found on Wii was shared with the GC and the fact that its failure was evident early ( by 2003 ) gave the time and the will to Nintendo to try pursuing their philosopy with the right execution.
