About having a controller vs not having a controller:
I'd personally rather have a controller. There's something about the interaction with a controller that makes it more fun for me. To be honest, I wouldn't have much fun playing Wii Sports if I didn't have the Wiimote in my hand, and it was just pure hand gestures. It just ads to the atmosphere and overall experience, imo.
