Microsoft hasn't made much of an investment in the format war, its not like there is an HD DVD drive IN the 360. The only reason they care is that Blu-Ray loosing would be a MASSIVE blow to the PS3. So if Microsoft anticipated this format beating Blu Ray, they'd do whatever they reasonable could to help it along
