The problem is not just attatch rate. As systems sell more units attatch rates go naturally down. The problem is that it is low when the install base is so low.

Attatch rates should go up over time as the average length of ownership increases.

We are talking per game since you were quoting the WaW attatch rates. As more systems sell, you have a higher proportion of systems that did not buy the game in question. With overall attatch rate you are right. But, again, we were not talking that and it is not what you quoted.

Now, for an attch rate of one game, publishers are caring more about total sales. If a system sells 1 million copies and has an attach rate of 10% is it better than one that sells 2 million copies with an attatch rate of 5%? The answer is no. And for deciding what to develop, you need to have variety. You can't make a fitness or mini game every release. All the minigames are not selling, only some are. If they were the magic cure all we would not have this disaster because the companies would not be in financial trouble. Basically, we have no reason to believe that the same types of games will not sell at all on the wii. No company has had the courage to do so because the developers are more interested in comparing their dick size by using their shiny HD projects. And, the companies that have made the effort are rewarded. NMH has sold more than any other suda games, even the ones on the ps2. Red Steel sold pretty well. WaW has not sold as much as on the other systems, but enough to make a good amount of money, especially for a game that was made popular by HD consoles. So, there is no more reason to make just another fitness game.
