That gravity hammer can kill anything that breathes air on earth and destroy inanimate objects (LOL). There is no exoskeleton on earth created with known elements from our periodic table that it cannot brreak. Why might you ask? Because its Alien technology, which would crush Raiden or disable him if he's near. Secondly its a symbol of high rank. If it doesn't hit you, it will knock you very far away if you're close by. It has area effect pushes you back as well (Hence the term gravity hammer). You can knock thrown grenades and rockets away from (As long as the timing is right).
