A fifty calibre could kill the Chief, yeah, but not as fast as it would kill Snake. Remember, both have the same equipment, and in terms of equal footing they have the same knowledge of each other's positions.

In terms of story MC has over 500 years of military improvements and knowledge on snake. They don't have the same equipment.
