January NPD: Lord of the Rings Squeaks One Out

I'm sick of talking about what game topped the software charts every month. Especially because I don't feel like putting up another picture of Wii Fit. So for today's release of the U.S. game sales for the month of January, here's a picture of the game that just barely made it in the top ten: Lord of the Rings: Conquest for Xbox 360.

Which is weird because Lord of the Rings: Conquest is a mess. But hey, to each his own.

Anyway, I bring this up because otherwise the January NPD sales are boring. The same consoles are winning and losing; the usual suspects are in the Top 10. Here are your lists.

This reminds me of what the NY Times Best Seller's List did to the Harry Potter series of books. Because they were blowing away the competition, it moved them to a new list (Children's Books) so that other books would appear to be best selling.  (Malestrom made this point -- now we see it in action).
