Resident evil 1 when adjusted for time inflation. in 1996 that game was so ahead of anything out there it created a new genre. Everything that came after in the same style owes big time to resident evil 1.
Resident Evil 4...pffft. shows that polls are popularity contests as some of the kids on IGN weren't alive when resident evil 1 came out.
