Once you start building up your stock of parts and can start experimenting it can be pretty fun. Tinkering with a vehicle to optimize it for a challenge is arguably the most fun part of the game. However if you were a fan of the first two games (or even just the first, I didn't like tooie) it can make you a little... bitter. I spent the first half of the game cursing it for being different, but once I got that out of my system I had a good time.
