To be fair, the games that capcom is making for x360/ps3 are already announced or will eventually make it to PC. So despite the claim made in the OP, you don't need a HD console to play them. Or are we pretending PC gaming doesn't exist?

In a way, yes...

We are mainly talking about console martket, but the fact that the you have to buy something else to play the sequel remains, still, so PC can count as the HD console.

But Happy Squrriel(sp?) brings up the point that these game could have been planned out before the Wii was released or before the Wii had a decent enough marketshare, and Capcom does have future Wii titles.

Anyways, I'm going to log out now and check on it later. Hopefully this thread will still be alive, then.

Then why is Capcom still annoucing HD games?

If Capcom is making money on their HD projects why would they stop developing them?

This is a mistake I constantly see people making, they assume that because another market is more lucrative that developers will assume that there is infinite demand for those games and they will abandon all other markets. It commonly comes up with people suggesting that no-one would ever bother making "Hardcore" Wii games because party games are less expensive and sell well.

In reality, companies look to have fairly diversified investments in multiple genres across multiple platforms in order to ensure that they have minimised their risk and maximised their potential return.
