| drboot said: The suggestions in this thread speak of a lack of understanding for great narrative and a lack of knowledge of good storytelling. Some of the examples in this thread include MP3, Mario RPG, Re4 and there are others. The keyword in the thread title is "powerful narrative". Does anyone here truly believe the games listed above compare with even the AVERAGE (not even the high echelon) novel or film in terms of narrative??? They do not. The storytelling in any of the above games is a landslide away from what would be considered a decent narrative in any other media, heck, even comic books. It frightens me to see people naming these games under a banner of narrative excellence. Granted both the Xbox and Ps3 library are largely comprised of games with awful storytelling but both systems have a legitimate list of titles with story's that are at least decent or better. If I didn't know anything about the Wii and received the above replies to the question of games with powerful narrative, you'd bet anyone worth their salt and BASIC knowledge/experience in literature and film would avoid the system like the plague. |
I've never understood these types of posts.
Did you honestly take a moment to read what we are suggesting before deciding to take the intellectual high ground by comparing other media to the video games listed? No, of course not. You saw an opportunity to insult others with a cheap jab and took it.
The reality is that the posters here are suggesting games with strong narratives in comparison to other Wii games and attempting to help the OP/OP's friend by naming a game he might enjoy. So congratulations, you defended a position no one was attacking and no one in this thread cared to argue. Oh and you managed to completely avoid saying anything helpful or useful to the OP. Well done.
Go troll elsewhere.
