It will not be made, on the PS3 or any other platform, for the simple reason that it will not satisfy anybody. Fanboys will BAWWWWW about any changes that are made to the game whatsoever, but if no changes are made then they'll BAWWWWW about that as well.

Square-Enix has no winning moves here, and it knows this. The only smart thing to do, therefore, is not to play in the first place, and that means no remake. Continuations and prequels, certainly, and a few generations from now we might even see a movie adaptation, Advent Children-style. But a remake? Not a chance.



Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
