Here is a question for everyone... as we all know, players, videos/discs & TV's are very price sensitive.

Assuming you had both players, would you rather buy a DVD at $9.95US - or the same BluRay movie at $39.95US (or is it $29.95?). What if you knew the movie was *lame*, and you would only watch it once or so (say it was for a friend to watch, or the kids).

I would say at the moment BluRay may have 1% (or less) of the worldwide video disc market (including DVD's & BluRay). Why pay more for the same movie?

My final comment for now - in my recent Asia tour I was *shocked* to see so many people buying / owning VCD movies. Probably 90% of the movies I saw were VCD! How could this be (I asked myself), knowing that the quality SUCKED? The answer - price (plus piracy ;).

If people are still happy to buy/watch VCD's based on price - why would they give a rats ar*e about BluRay, or any other expensive format?

nice bs.

watch a Br movie watch dvd... and find out why they will choose the HD one.

what do 3rd world markets have to do with anything ? of course they buy the crap vcd, look how much money they make.

+ many of these markets piracy is highly accepted and not as contoleed as other nations.

Hus, stop calling everyone's statements BS...it is possible for other people to have theories about how the BR/HD-DVD/DVD war will turn out...you need to grow up and be more respectful.

I for one, agree with the idea that not everybody cares about the quality difference between BR and DVD.  "watch a Br movie watch dvd... and find out why they will choose the HD one"...yes, that's why many people choose BR...much better quality.  We all know that.  The fact is not many people yet want to pay more for what they think is a minor increase in quality.  I've seen HD-DVDs, BRs, DVDs...and I can honestly say I'm not yet willing to pay the current prices for any next gen video discs.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
