Plenty of software companies warned Sony their design was not developer friendly and they should consider a more standard PC design, it was Sony's choice to not follow their advice. Gabe Newell has every right to laugh and say "I told you so". |
Also, the concept that a software developer should tell a hardware manufacturer how to run their company is foolish. If Gabe doesn't wan't to dev for ps3, he shouldn't but he can keep his pie hole from spewing insults while he's at it.

Hold on back up a second. You're telling me that a company that makes games for consoles and PC's, Valve, should have no input with the developers of the hardware for the platform on which those games are going to be running? While that is certainley one way to operate your business it's pretty clear that listening to your customers provides better results in the long run.
As far as Gabe shutting his mouth, when he gets asked a question he gives an answer, I don't see him scheduling a press conferences to spew these insults. Although I agree sometmes it is better to say nothing.

So exactly how much support has Gabe ever given sony that now qualifies him to start spouting BS. Even companies that actually pretty much granted sony victories in the ps2 and ps1 era's haven't come up with BS like this. Last time I checked, there were no valve games on either ps2 or ps1 and sony won both generations. It one thing to like someone's games...it's another to worship him like blind sheep.

Um last time I checked Gabe and Valve make PC games first and foremost. And believe it or not PC gaming is a MUCH larger demographic than console gaming especially prior to this gen. Believe me Valve in no way "needs" the PS3 or sony at all. The reason Valve is down with programming for the 360 is because its programming architecture is much closer to PC coding than the PS3 thus it feels more familiar and easier.
