If we used the $60 million budget for Killzone 2 which is said to be on the higher side in terms of estimations, how many sales would be needed to break even?

It really depends on how many of the $60 (are games usually fully priced in NA?) Sony get back, my guess would be $20 at least as they published and made the game. So 3 million sales to break even, add advertising and all other factors........4 million to break even? This is what happens when someone with no idea on the gaming industry starts with his guesstimations. :P

SCEWW President Shuhei Yoshida:

VB: What is the minimum a game has to sell these days?

SY: Disk-based games? I would say a million. If you spend $20 million to $30 million, with marketing investment, margins of $35 or $40 on a $60 game, then the recoup point is really high. It depends on the platform. For PSN games, it is $2 million tops. That is a more relaxing experience.

I wonder what the payroll itsell was for GG in the 4 years they've been on this project.  And the marketing will add quite a bit even if it isn't Halo 3 sized.
