"The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It’s really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted," Newell told Game Informer magazine. "I’d say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a ‘do over’. Just say, ‘This was a horrible disaster and we’re sorry and we’re going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it.’"

He didnt say anything negative about the PS3,he just pointed out facts, now if he said PS3 sucks and its a POS wihtout dated parts then yes i would agree.

Had he said "its sales are quite disappointing and under expectations" and "exploiting the Cell without development tool suitable to mask enough architectural differences while letting fully tap its point of strength requires additional efforts by the developers and this could be not economically justifiable in projects not giving enough guarantees of sufficient sales" we could consider him objective, calling PS3 "a horrible disaster" is over-the-top, to say the least.

Well the PS3 is a diaster at least it was...

Graphics that are going to blow the Xbox out of the water (Not yet)

Sales are gonna be HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it was a diaster compared to what Sony WANTED,THey dont want a thirdplace best machine, they want MONEY..

You put it in this more reasonable way, for initial Sony and its fanboys ambitions it could be considered maybe not a horrible but at least a half disaster, but Newell clearly meant it in an absolute way, while we, who aren't fanboys, could better define it disappointing. And about triumphant proclamations, well, we not fanboy can admit without feeling our entrails mangled that, whichever the system, reality will always fail compared to hype
