I don't see the game's appeal to a Japanese audience. The game has all sort of western vibe to it, the animation, the gameplay mechanic, the fact that the protagonist isn't some androgenous teen... Its also been proclaimed the spiritual successor of Kings Field which sold like utter rubbish in Japan.
This is aimed more at western audiences than anything and even then I doubt it'll have a warm reception; It just feels so generic, like something I'd pick up in the bargain bin for shits and giggles for my cousin's PC.
