I'm not sure, I think this is the result of say 10,000 women touching it (all trying for a baby) and a placebo effect. Nice story though.
I love the way they 'acquired' the statues from the ivory coast... meaning they probably stormed some village and killed a load of people for them like when they acquire oil in Iraq j/k
