No, his company doesn't need the PS3. At all. The consoles are just extra money to Valve. They have the digital distribution for the entire PC world in the palm of their hands with Steam.

And he can talk shit about the PS3! He's a game designer complainign from a game designer's perspective, and a businessman doing the same! He is allowed.

 

yes but he needs to act like an adult an professional because thats what he is. he cant be insulting and start "talking shit" about a console like if he is a kid or a fanboy and he is not complaining "from a game designers perspective" he is the one talking shit saying stupid things about the ps3. and if he has not develop for the ps3 how can he say all those things about the console. first try it and then give your opinion. he can be an exelent developer, but all his reputation goes to the garbage when he talk like that. people are not going to take him seriously. and thats what i hate so much about sony and ms sometimes they are completely arrogants and stupids. please people you guys are professionals so act like one.

I think that Gabe Newell's reputation, and that of his game studio, will weather him saying things that are true about the PS3.

And no, Valve should not "give the PS3 a chance". They are too small to create an engine that would work on the PS3, and the returns on making a game for Sony's platform would be microscopic compared to the kind of money that Valve makes delivering an experience on Steam.

 

And Valve doesn't need to give ps3 a chance. I don't remember playing any of their games on ps2 or ps1 and last I checked, those consoles ruled their generations. This is what sony needs 3rd parties for not for foul-mouthing.
