Prime is a subseries. A sidestory. A gaiden. We know when they happen and they deal with Phazon. Not surprisingly, the main series doesn't deal with the subject of the subseries (Phazon), and the subseries is placed and created in such a way that it doesn't contradict the canon of the main series.
